2D/Photo-Art

Jacek Ludwig Scarso’s photographic works are shot in theatre studios, with his trademark essential settings and chiaroscuro lighting effects. Each image is the result of a creative process with performers from different disciplines: fragments of dramas that never existed. They depict imaginary characters, often inspired by religious, anatomical and sports imagery: at once voyeuristic, poetic and subtly subversive. Prints and their frames are then hand-finished, presented in limited editions. Jacek’s digital collage pieces play instead with art history iconography, extending his interest in the relationship between image and theatricality.
